8/22/2023 0 Comments Shadow of war brutal executionThey have recorded evidence of terror, torture, comradeship, heroism and grief -the entire profile, one could say, of war's brutal but fascinating face. Over the last 140 years, war photographers have shown us all these things, and more. Should they show the pomp and glory of regiments preparing to enter the fray? The nobility of the men in the trenches? The chaos and confusion of combat itself? Or should they show the destruction war leaves in its wake, the casualties and corpses, the suffering of both civilians and combatants? In a sense, they have to decide what war is. ![]() ![]() ![]() When photographers go off to war - as they have done with unfortunate regularly since the beginnings of the medium - they have to decide what to make pictures of.
